A Sold-Out Start to 2026: The Changebaker Premieres in Charlotte
We kicked off 2026 with a sold-out Charlotte premiere of The Changebaker at the historic Carolina Theatre—an unforgettable night of community, artistry, and connection.
More than 700 people filled the theater for the screening, but the experience extended well beyond the film itself. The evening featured a live musical performance by UltimaNota, powerful dance performances by El Alma de la Luna, and a post-screening Q&A with director Courtney Dixon and community leader Manolo Betancur.
Even before the lights dimmed, there was a palpable sense of joy in the lobby. Theater staff remarked on the energy in the room—a clear reminder of the power of coming together around shared stories on the big screen.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make this premiere such a meaningful way to begin the year. This screening set the tone for what’s ahead at Cine Casual: thoughtful films, vibrant conversations, and spaces where our community feels seen and connected.
Missed the premiere? Stay tuned—an encore screening will be announced soon.
The Charlotte premiere of The Changebaker was presented by the Robinson Center for Civic Leadership at Foundation For The Carolinas, Manolo’s Bakery, the Carolina Theatre and Cine Casual.
